The Library and Information Consortium of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Ministry of Culture and International and Civic Organizations conduct the 10th International Conference "Issyk-Kul 2009: Libraries and Democratization of Society". The Conference will be held at the "Issyk-Kul - Aurora" resort at the Issyk-Kul Lake on October 1-5, 2009. Planned organization of sections, round table discussions and presentations on the following topics: Section subjects: - Corporate activity of library and social partnership;
- Creation of electronic information resources of Central Asia: new opportunities of interaction;
- Professional development of library specialists as an object of the public policy;
- Information literacy at our time: users and librarians;
- Libraries and local government: the ways of interaction;
- Library services for disabled people;
- Library is the modern resource of education and children's development in information society;
- Libraries' local lore work.
Round Table Subjects: - Libraries and Ch. Aitmatov's books;
- Ecological information and ecological culture;
- Copyright issues: on-line publications and open archives;
- Scientific and information activities in Kyrgyzstan;
- Experience and use of IRBIS library automation software in Central Asian libraries.
Common Languages of the Conference are Kyrgyz, Russian and English. Simultaneous translation will be supplied, too. Organizational Committee of the Conference is authorized to include accepted reports in sections, round tables or to move in to stand category. Terms of participation You are kindly requested to complete the registration form and send it by fax/e-mail or register online through our website http://conference.bik.org.kg/en/registration The fee for the whole period of the Conference includes: - round-trip from Bishkek to the Conference's site;
- participation in all Conference activities;
- residence in the "Issyk-Kul-Aurora" sanatorium during the Conference;
- three meals a day;
- coffee breaks;
- using pool and other treatment procedures of sanatorium "Issyk-Kul - Aurora"
- conference materials.
Registration fee for the whole period (i.e. from October 1 till October 5, 2009) of the "Issyk-Kul 2009" Conference depends on the room category.
